Welcome
The Center for Global Health Systems, Management, and Policy is part
of the Department of Community Health at
Boonshoft School of Medicine. Our goals are to improve the
quality, efficiency and access to health care. We serve the local community
as well as play a role in developing national models.
We promote the education of all health providers physicians, hospitals, managers, insurers, employers in areas of management and health economics. We believe that one of the keys to success for the future of health care is the orientation of population-based health care. While continuing the individual care to a patient, a health provider must also understand and support the needs of the community.
Through grants and contracts, we analyze and develop programs and systems of care. Through our interests in preventive and community based health care we work to prevent disease, disability, and lost quality of life.
In parallel to our educational programs, we provide consulting and
services to health providers and health systems. Our local expertise
combined with our national experience combines to offer valuable service.
As part of a university system, the cost of our consulting operation
is substantially below that of large, for-profit firms.
A key role that we play is to serve as an organization that stimulates critically necessary dialogue in health care public policy. In addition to promoting universal health care, we provide a forum for ideas, new, old, current, and recycles to be aired, debated, and developed.
Finally, we see the health care enterprise as continuously changing, meeting new needs, and responding to new developments. It is our practice to be at the edge of these changes, to anticipate them, prepare for them, and be a part of them as they enter the health care environment.
