Wright State Medical School's Class of 2000 graduates on June 9

DAYTON, OHIO -- Pediatrician Joel J. Alpert, M.D. will deliver the commencement address at Wright State University School of Medicine's graduation at Memorial Hall in downtown Dayton on Friday, June 9. The event begins at 6:30 p.m.

Dr. Alpert is professor of pediatrics and public health at Boston University School of Medicine and immediate past president of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is a national advocate for children's health. The Joel and Barbara Alpert Endowment for Children of the City was established in recognition of the Alperts' years of service to the children of the Boston area. The endowment supports research at Boston University School of Medicine on the medical and social needs of inner city children.

The Class of 2000 is the 21st class of M.D.'s to graduate from Wright State. Fifty-five of the 80 graduates (69 percent) will enter primary care residencies in family medicine, internal medicine, and pediatrics. Since 1980, when the charter class completed medical school, Wright State has graduated 1,639 M.D.'s.
