Wright State Dermatology Seeks
Volunteers
for Topical Research Study for Rosacea
Dayton, Ohio—Dayton area residents are invited to participate
in a clinical research study that will investigate and evaluate a topical
medication for the treatment of the inflammatory lesions of rosacea.
Participation in this research study, led by Michael P. Heffernan, M.D.,
chief, Division of Dermatology, will involve office visits over a period
of 10 weeks. Acne rosacea is a common but little-known disorder of the
facial skin that affects an estimated 14 million Americans. Symptoms
include flushed face, red bumps on the cheeks, around the nose and forehead,
or blotchy, red skin across the face.
Who is eligible
to volunteer? People age 18 or older who are in good health, who cannot
be pregnant, are not planning to become pregnant and are not breast-feeding
may be eligible to participate. Volunteers will receive free study-related
examinations, and will be given a gel-based study-related medication
to apply to their face. Participants will also receive reimbursement
for time and travel to Wright State Dermatology at 1 Elizabeth Place,
Suite 200 in Dayton.
