J. Michael Ballester, M.D., receives the Teaching Excellence Award
DAYTON, OHIO—J. Michael Ballester, M.D., assistant professor in
the Department of Emergency Medicine at Wright State University Boonshoft
School of Medicine, was honored by the graduating class of 2006 with
the Teaching Excellence Award. He received the award during the graduation
ceremony held at the Schuster Performing Arts Center on May 26th.
Ballester was recognized by the students as a faculty member who displayed
outstanding professional skill and pride in his instructional responsibilities.
Prior to his present position, Ballester served as an assistant professor
in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Cincinnati
College of Medicine. He was also the director of the fourth year medical
student rotation there. Ballester holds a B.S. in chemistry from Eastern
Washington University, and an M.D. from the University of Kansas School
of Medicine. He completed his postgraduate residency training in emergency
medicine/internal medicine at the Allegheny University General Hospital
in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
A recipient of numerous awards including the “Golden Apple Award,” “Outstanding
Physician Award,” and “Golden Stethoscope Award,” Ballester
is also recognized nationally as an educator, innovator, leader, and
researcher.
