Marshall Kapp, J.D., M.P.H., Awarded for
Professional Leadership in Gerontology
Dayton, Ohio—Marshall B. Kapp, J.D., M.P.H., was selected as the
Donald P. Kent Award recipient for 2003, by the Gerontological Society
of America (GSA). The award is presented annually to a member for exemplifying
the highest standards for professional leadership in gerontology through
teaching, service, and interpretation of gerontology to the public at
large.
Kapp holds a B.A. from Johns Hopkins University, a J.D. with Honors
from George Washington University Law School and an M.P.H. from Harvard
University School of Public Health. He has been a faculty member in the
School of Medicine at Wright State University, since August 1980, where
he is a professor in the Departments of Community Health and Psychiatry
and teaches courses on the legal and ethical aspects of health care.
He is also director of WSU's Office of Geriatrics and holds an adjunct
faculty appointment at the University of Dayton School of Law. He is
a nationally recognized authority on medicine and the law, and is a fellow
of the American College of Legal Medicine.
The GSA is a non-profit professional organization with more than 5000
members in the field of aging. It provides researchers, educators, practitioners,
and policy makers with opportunities to understand, advance, integrate,
and use basic and applied research on aging to improve the quality of
life as one ages.
