Focuses on Healthy Heart Promotion
DAYTON, OHIO--The Center for Healthy Communities is sponsoring, “Heart
of Gold: Issues in Cardiovascular Health Promotion,” a conference
for health providers from medicine, nursing, psychology and social work.
The conference is October 24 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the David
H. Ponitz, Sinclair Center on the Sinclair Community College campus in
Dayton. The cost for the conference, parking, and lunch is $40.00. Registration
is required by October 17.
The keynote speaker for the event is Carol M. Mason, N.P., C.S., G.N.P,
clinical director for the Lipid Clinic and the St. Paul Heart Clinic
in St. Paul, Minnesota. The focus of her address is the new National
Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) guidelines for cardiovascular risk
assessment. The NCEP is a group of national experts that design clinical
guidelines for national cholesterol testing and management.
Conference topics and panel discussions include: cardiovascular health
promotion; cardiovascular metabolic syndrome; coronary heart disease
prevention strategies for childhood and adolescence; depression and its
connection to coronary heart disease in women; community-based management
of cardiac patients; and ethical issues in cardiac care.
Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits are available for the conference.
