Allen Receives Research Fellowship at
Wright State University Medical School
DAYTON, OHIO -- Kathryn C. Allen has received a student fellowship from
the Endocrine Society to conduct a summer research project in the laboratory
of Mariana Morris, Ph.D., professor and chair of pharmacology and toxicology
at Wright State University School of Medicine.
A graduate of Yellow Springs High School, Allen is currently an undergraduate
at Smith College in Massachusetts. She worked in Morris's laboratory
last summer with support from a Smith College internship. This summer
Allen will continue her research project on adrenal function with the
goal of submitting a paper for publication.
The Endocrine Society Summer Research Fellowships are offered to encourage
promising undergraduate students, medical students and students entering
graduate school to pursue careers in endocrinology. The society provides
students with a $4,000 stipend to participate in research projects under
the guidance of a society member for eight to ten weeks during the summer.
Based in Bethesda, MD, the Endocrine Society is the world's largest
and most active professional organization of endocrinologists. The society
is internationally known as the leading source of state-of-the art research
and clinical advancements in endocrinology and metabolism.
