Free Orthopaedics Symposium
scheduled Friday, August 22
DAYTON, OHIO -- The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Wright State
University School of Medicine, in conjunction with Miami Valley Hospital
and Grandview Hospital, will sponsor a free orthopaedic symposium at
Grandview Hospital on Friday, August 22, from 10:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The
topic will be "Adult Reconstructive Surgery." Keynote speakers
will be Dr. Henry Finn and Dr. Wayne Paprosky from Chicago. Included
in this session will be other regional speakers covering topics related
to adult reconstructive surgery of the hip and knee.
The August 22 event is the first in a series of orthopaedics symposia
scheduled for the 1997-98 academic year. They will be similar to the
extremely successful "Pediatric Spine" symposium at Grandview
Hospital last year. The second symposium will also be held at Grandview
Hospital on Friday, October 24. The topic will be "Foot and Ankle
Surgery." The keynote speakers will be Dr. Donald Baxter from Texas
and Dr. James Amis from Cincinnati, plus other local orthopaedic specialists.
The third symposium will be held at Grandview Hospital on January 16,
1998. The topic will be "Shoulder Surgery." The keynote speakers
will be Dr. Mark Frankle from Tampa and Dr. Gerald Williams from Philadelphia.
Although pre registration is mandatory, all symposia are free, including
lunch, and open to all health care professionals. Nurses, physical therapists,
medical students, residents, fellows and attending orthopaedic surgeons
are encouraged to attend. Continuing education credits will be available.
