James Ebert, M.D., assumes key leadership role within the WSU Boonshoft School of Medicine
Ebert will serve as Oscar Boonshoft Chair and Director of the Center for Global Health Systems, Management and Policy
DAYTON, Ohio-James R. Ebert, M.D., M.B.A., M.P.H., F.A.A.P., has been named the Oscar Boonshoft Chair and Director of the Center for Global Health Systems, Management and Policy at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine.
Ebert is an associate professor of community health and pediatrics with the medical school. A member of Phi Beta Kappa, he holds a B.A. in economics from The Ohio State University, an M.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, an M.B.A. from the Raj Soin College of Business at Wright State University and a Master of Public Health from Wright State. He is board certified in pediatrics and adolescent medicine.
A fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), Ebert has served as a chapter president for the AAP. He is a member of both the Society for Adolescent Medicine and the American College of Physician Executives. Ebert reviews manuscripts for the Journal of Adolescent Health, and has been an instructor for Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training since 1987. He currently serves as the Lead Physician for the Lipid Clinic at Dayton Children's Medical Center.
Most recently, Ebert developed and launched the Boonshoft Physician Leadership Development Program, a unique dual-degree program for medical students that emphasizes leadership and allows students to attain an M.B.A. or an M.P.H. in addition to their M.D. through a five-year blended curriculum. This program now includes over 40 medical students and has attracted applicants from across the United States.
In his new position, Ebert will be responsible for the continued growth and success of all education and research programs of the Center for Global Health Systems, Management and Policy, as well as ensuring constructive collaboration with other components of the medical school, the university and the regional community.
