Wright State Boonshoft School of Medicine names Glen Solomon, M.D., chair of the Department of Internal Medicine

Solomon to oversee Department of Internal Medicine, with 80 full-time faculty, 297 volunteer faculty educating both generalists and subspecialists

DAYTON, Ohio-Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine is pleased to announce the appointment of Glen D. Solomon, M.D., FACP, as professor and chair of the Department of Internal Medicine.

Solomon comes to Wright State after serving as chairperson, residency program director and attending physician in the Department of Medicine at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Ill. He also served as professor of medicine and vice chairman for the Department of Medicine at the Chicago Medical School of Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.

The Department of Internal Medicine is home to 11 divisions including cardiology, gastroenterology, general internal medicine, hematology, infectious diseases, medicine-pediatrics (residency program), nephrology, neurology, oncology, pulmonary/critical care, rheumatology and currently trains 148 residents and fellows. In addition to educating both generalists and subspecialists, the department conducts research, primarily in the fields of health services and education.

Solomon holds a B.A. from Northwestern University in Evanston, and an M.D. from Rush Medical College in Chicago. He completed an internal medicine residency at the U.S. Air Force Medical Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and at Wright State University affiliated hospitals in Dayton. He also completed the Executive Program in Practice Management at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Weatherhead School of Management, at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

A prolific researcher, writer, reviewer and editor, Solomon is the co-author of two textbooks on headache medicine and has authored over 100 peer-reviewed papers and 35 book chapters on the subject of headache and migraine. Solomon is a member of the Association of Chairs and Chiefs of Medicine, the American College of Physician Executives, the American Headache Society, the International Headache Society, and the Association of Professors of Medicine.

Solomon is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of the American Association for the Study of Headache. He has taught more than 100 grand rounds and invited lectures, and served as the program director for the internal medicine residency program at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital and as the fellowship program director for the Headache Medicine Fellowship Program at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Solomon has been featured in Best Doctors in America, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who of Emerging Leaders and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He is board certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine and licensed in both Ohio and Illinois.
