National Award recognizes Dayton-area Pediatric Professionals
Dayton, Ohio-Local pediatric professionals will receive the Ellen Rudy Clore Excellence in Research Writing Award for 2006. Their article, "Correlates of Mothers' Persistent Depressive Symptoms: A National Study" was selected as the most outstanding research article of all those published by the Journal of Pediatric Health Care in 2006.
John M. Pascoe, M.D., professor of pediatrics, and Adrienne Stolfi, M.S.P.H., instructor of biostatistics and pediatrics, both affiliated with Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, are the recipients. Their study examined the prevalence, persistence, and correlates of mothers' depressive symptoms over a 5-year period. Risk factors for persistent depression include maternal age less than 30 years, African-American, never married or divorced, education less than high school, and indigence.
