Fourth Annual “Drive for a Difference” at
Beavercreek Golf Club
BEAVERCREEK,
OHIO—Medical students from Wright State’s Boonshoft School
of Medicine are sponsoring a charity golf outing, Friday, May 18. The
event will be held at the Beavercreek Golf Club, 2800 New Germany Trebein
Road, Beavercreek, Ohio. The public is invited to attend, but pre-registration
is required.
The benefit begins at noon for a luncheon and check-in, followed by
an 18-hole golf scramble that begins at 1:30 p.m. The cost per person
for the full slate of events is $75.00 (golf clubs/balls not included.)
The fourth annual “Drive for a Difference” will benefit
Reach Out of Montgomery County and also the Jacob P. Deerhake, M.D.,
Memorial Scholarship Fund. Reach Out of Montgomery County is a 501-c(3)
healthcare organization, founded in 1994 by leading medical institutions
in the Miami Valley area: Wright State University School of Medicine,
the Combined Health District, and the Montgomery County Medical Society.
Using the assistance of volunteer physicians, nurses, and other healthcare
professionals, Reach Out provides free healthcare to the underserved
and uninsured. A large number of Wright State’s medical students
volunteer their time at Reach Out clinics.
Jacob P. Deerhake, a classmate of the School of Medicine’s Class
of 2000 died at the age of 30 from a rare form of brain cancer. His class
has established a memorial scholarship in his memory. Dr. Deerhake received
numerous awards as a medical student and as an internal medicine resident
and chief resident at the University of Michigan. It was set-up to provide
financial support and encouragement for medical students at Wright State
University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine who reflect the strong
values and moral character of Dr. Jacob Deerhake.
