Boonshoft School of Medicine

Gary Ventolini, M.D.

DAYTON, OHIO-Gary Ventolini, M.D., has been appointed the Nicholas J. Thompson Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine.

Dr. Ventolini is an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology and of family medicine. He served as director of the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology for the medical school and as director of obstetrics services at Miami Valley Hospital. He holds an M.D. from the University of Padova, Italy, and served an internship in women's medicine at Feltre Civil Hospital in Feltre, Italy. He completed residencies in family medicine at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, South Carolina, and in obstetrics and gynecology at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati. He has been a member of Wright State's faculty since 2002 and is board certified in both obstetrics and gynecology and family medicine.

Ventolini is a fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine; American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology; American Association of Family Practice; American Medical Association; Ohio State Medical Society; World Organization of Family Doctors; American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, and the American Fertility Society. He was a founding member of the Institute for Human Reproduction.

He is the recipient of numerous professional awards, including the RTF Schmidt Award for "Best All Around" OB/GYN resident from Good Samaritan Hospital, Outstanding Family Medicine Obstetric Preceptor Award from the University of Cincinnati, and the Rubel Award for Outstanding Performance in OB/GYN Service while at Spartanburg, South Carolina. Ventolini has written and published more than 60 articles, book chapters, and abstracts in peer-reviewed publications and has made numerous regional, national and international presentations.

Wright State's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology focuses on providing high quality, compassionate patient care and the knowledge and skills of obstetrics and gynecology to prepare both medical students and residents. The department includes 19 fully-affiliated faculty, 24 resident instructors, along with 58 partially affiliated voluntary faculty members. The department includes the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology; the Division of Gynecologic Oncology; the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine; Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and the Division of Research.
