Mauro Ferrari is the Invited Speaker for the Academy of Medicine Annual Lecture and Dinner Meeting
DAYTON, OH-- Mauro Ferrari, Ph.D., will be the guest speaker for the 27th Annual Lecture and Dinner Meeting of Wright State's Academy of Medicine on April 28 at the Dayton Art Institute.
Mauro Ferrari, Ph.D., is the associate vice president for health sciences technologyDr. Mauro Ferrari image and commercialization, and the associate director of the Dorothy M. Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute at The Ohio State University. His current appointments also include the Edgar Hendrickson Professor of Biomedical Engineering, professor of internal medicine, mechanical engineering and materials science. Dr. Ferrari is a founder of biomedical micro/nanotechnology, especially pertaining to drug delivery, cell transplantation, implantable bioreactors, and other innovative therapeutic modalities. He is the author of two books, more than 100 academic papers, and holds the patents on 12 inventions with thirty more patents pending. Dr. Ferrari was awarded the Presidential Young Investigator Award of the National Science Foundation, a Shannon Director's Award of the National Institutes of Health, and the Coulter Foundation's Wallace H. Coulter Award for Biomedical Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
The Academy of Medicine was formed to support Wright State University School of Medicine shortly after its founding. The Academy, composed of area physicians, faculty and friends of the school, provides low-cost student loans and scholarships, and recognizes outstanding medical students, medical residents, and faculty. It has circulated close to $2,000,000 in student loans. As the average medical student debt nears $100,000 by graduation, these loans provide a vital service to our students.
