Hurd appointed Obstetrics/Gynecology Chair
at Wright State University School of Medicine
DAYTON, OHIO -- William W. Hurd, M.D., has been appointed the Nicholas
J. Thompson Professor and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
at Wright State University School of Medicine, effective August 1. He
succeeds John J. Halki, M.D., Ph.D.
Hurd comes to the position from Indiana University School of Medicine
where he served as professor of obstetrics and gynecology and as director
of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology.
A native of Minnesota, Hurd received a B.S. degree in chemistry from
the University of Alabama at Huntsville. He holds a M.D./M.Sc. combined
degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, Birmingham.
He completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University
of Cincinnati Medical Center and a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology
at the University of California, San Francisco. Hurd is certified in
obstetrics and gynecology, and in reproductive endocrinology and infertility
by the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Hurd is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and received
the Munsick-Ragan Ob/GYN Resident Teaching Award at Indiana University
in 1999. He serves on the editorial board of the American Journal of
Managed Care and as a reviewer for several other national publications
in his field. He is also a principal investigator on a National Institute
on Child Health and Human Development grant.
