Dr. Howard Part appointed interim dean
at Wright State University School of Medicine
DAYTON, OHIO -- Howard M. Part, M.D., has been appointed interim dean
at Wright State University School of Medicine, effective April 9, 1998.
He replaces Kim Goldenberg, M.D., who was selected as president of Wright
State University.
Part had served as associate dean for faculty and clinical affairs at
the School of Medicine since 1995. After joining the medical school's
fully affiliated faculty in 1988, he held a succession of leadership
positions in Wright State's Department of Medicine. He was chief of the
General Medicine Consult Service and director of the internal medicine
residency program at the Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Center as well
as the department's vice-chair for medical education. He also served
a term as the department's chair.
A native of New York City, Part received a B.S. degree from Ohio University.
He holds an M.D. degree from Ohio State University, where he also completed
a residency in internal medicine.
Part is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is
a fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP).
Part has received
nine teaching awards since joining Wright State's faculty. He was selected
twice for the School of Medicine Teaching Excellence Award by medical
students in the classes of 1992 and 1995. He received the Dean's Award
for Excellence in Medical Education in 1992.
