Academic Support Programs
USMLE Study Program
Once students complete the first half of our medical curriculum and prior
to starting the clerkships, they take the United States Medical Licensure
Exam (USMLE) Step One, a comprehensive test of their medical knowledge. A
study program has been instituted to help students prepare for this national
licensing examination and employs peer tutorial groups to review and discuss
exam items from both published preparation books and Boonshoft School of Medicine
faculty. Early in their fourth year, students take the USMLE Step II and Step II Clinical Skills exams and
undergo a careful assessment of clinical skills to determine individualized fourth-year
rotations.
Study Skills Support
Students who need to improve their learning ability are supported by
a special, individualized program designed to help them improve skills
such as time management, note taking, organization, and test taking.
More information is published in the Student Policy
Guide.
Tutoring Services
Support in mastering subject matter of the freshman year is provided
by an extensive peer tutorial system, which is available without charge
