Cover the Uninsured Week Activites

Students from Boonshoft School of Medicine hosted a “Get Connected” Health Care Forum on Saturday, May 3, in downtown Dayton as part of Cover the Uninsured Week, April 27–May 3. The Forum featured representatives from the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, CareSource, Community Health Advocates from the Center for Healthy Communities, the Dayton Area Diabetics Association, Dayton Dietetic Association, House of Bread, Bureau for Mentally Handicapped Children, Miami Valley Hospital, Planned Parenthood, Premier Health Partners, Samaritan Homeless Clinic, Unified Health Solutions, YMCA and more. Kroger donated $10 gift cards that were raffled off to participants during the event. [Download the event flyer.]

Marjorie B. Ellis, from Office of Product Regulation and Actuarial Services at the Ohio Department of Insurance, made two presentations on state initiatives to deal with the problems faced by the unisured. The presentations may be viewed online as PDFs or downoloaded as Power Point slide shows:
