CNC in the News

About the Comprehensive Neuroscience Center

LEGACY: Wright State's new Comprehensive Neuroscience Center (CNC) builds on the Boonshoft School of Medicine's record of excellence in neuroscience research. The CNC incorporates and supersedes the Center for Brain Research started in 2000. The new CNC will be campus-wide in scope and will focus on key strategic areas of basic and translational research. Its signature research and education programs will build on existing strengths and resources, including existing centers of excellence and federally funded research programs within the school.

INNOVATION: The CNC's innovative organization will integrate the tools of post-genome research - genomics, proteomics, informatics, and imaging - making them available to a wider range of basic and clinical neuroscientists. The CNC will embed neuroscience experts in existing core facilities in these areas, extending their effectiveness and expanding their potential for research collaborations.

VISION: Wright State's Comprehensive Neuroscience Center will be a recognized regional and national center of excellence for neuroscience research, education, and outreach. The CNC will create a high-level scholarly environment for interaction and collaboration among basic and clinical neuroscientists at WSU, increasing competitiveness for funding and enhancing recruitment of eminent scientists. The CNC also will strengthen relationships among neuroscientists in the Ohio-Miami Valley region and beyond to promote institutional collaboration and public understanding of neuroscience.
