We provide a wide range of services for
the Boonshoft School of Medicine, including:
Communications Products
Publications such as Vital Signs and Dean's
Report promote
progress and share information about the school. We maintain a
database of story ideas to incorporate into university and school publications
and local media outlets. Please share your ideas and stories with us.
We are especially interested in research advances, human interest stories,
and your accomplishments.
The office can assist your communications efforts
as well, helping to design newsletters, brochures, and promotional
materials for your office, department, or event. We offer consultation
for printing needs and have developed templates for postcards, brochures,
and flyers that meet university and school guidelines. Using templates
can reduce your production time and cost. Contact us early in your
planning process!
Community Outreach
We have developed a successful
Mini-Medical School Series for the public to learn about the science of medicine.
The programs are four- to six-week sessions held annually. The office
will help you develop and implement your outreach programs as well. Suggestions
for community outreach programming and presenters for the Mini-Medical
School are welcome. We also get frequent calls from community
groups looking for a speaker; if you are willing to serve in that capacity,
let us know.
Electronic Communications & the Web
The office is responsible for content management
of the school's web site [www.med.wright.edu], the HELP Center web site [www.emhelpcenter.org], and the Wright State Physicians web site [wrightstatephysicians.org] and offers web publishing
for all school
affiliated offices and programs. The school's web policy and general guidelines are posted online. We regularly survey web visitors and maintain statistical data about visits to these sites. The most recent web survey is posted online and statistical reports on traffic to departmental web sites are available from Robin Suits, associate director for electronic communications. The Internet has emerged as a major
recruiting tool for students and residents, making up-to-date information
and accessible graphic format strategically important to the school.
We provide resources, such as templates and images that meet accessibility
and copyright guidelines. The office produces and distributes medical
student recruitment DVDs, videos, and multimedia presentations.
Identity & Logo Standards
The Wright State University Boonshoft School
of Medicine Institutional Identity Guidelines Manual is available
online. A consistent identity is an important asset for any institution,
and these guidelines are designed to help faculty, staff, and students
support that identity. [Note: These logos are
low-resolution and not suitable for print. If
you need a high-resolution version, please contact som_pr@wright.edu or call us at (937) 775-2951.]
Media Relations
We act as the principal liaison
between the medical school and the news media and coordinates efforts
with the university. Positive media coverage reflects well upon the school's
endeavors in teaching, patient care, and research. In addition to documenting
the school's media coverage, the office connects subject experts to media
inquiries. If you are contacted by the news media, contact us. We can
examine potential problem areas, help you prepare for an interview,
leverage the story, and serve as media contact. Also, we publicize
school events through public service announcements, news releases,
and web announcements.
Tabletop Exhibit
For conferences, meetings, or exhibits, the office has
tabletop presentation panels that you can check out. The panels have
a lit overhead graphic panel with the school logo and include a matching
table cover and hard sided carrying case, suitable for shipping.
Photography
In addition to the resources at the university's Center for
Teaching and Learning, the office has a databank of photographs. There
are historical and current shots that can be used in printed pieces or
on your web pages.
Products
For gifts or fundraising, the office orders imprinted
products specifically designed for the Boonshoft School of Medicine.
Folders, mailing labels, and other office products are available through Wright
State's Printing Services.
Other items may be purchased through Wright
State's Bookstore or EmbroidMe.
