Welcome
Thank you for your interest in the Combined Plastic Surgery Residency
Program at Boonshoft School of Medicine. We invite you to explore the
many facets of our program, our research and our annual community service
projects. As an academic division in a medical school, we strive to graduate
highly competent and compassionate practitioners in plastic surgery.
Our program encompasses clinical and didactic experience in plastic,
maxillofacial surgery, orthognathic surgery, hand surgery and combined
orthopedic plastic surgery hand service, teaching techniques, research
in cell biology and wounds. A curious and problem-oriented attitude is
fostered by an evidence-based medicine practice-based and improvement learning, case analysis and faculty role models. Confidence is promoted through active evaluation
and feedback.
Our program received its initial accreditation in May 2006 for a three-year
independent program. Our first resident began on July 2006. The program is accredited for one resident per year. We are accepting applicants to match for an R-1 Surgery Preliminary/Plastic Surgery/Advanced Plastic Surgery slot to begin in July 2010 through ERAS.
The Plastic Surgery Residency is now a combined three-year General
Surgery and three-year Plastic Surgery program, supported by area
hospitals including Children's Medical Center of Dayton, Good Samaritan
Hospital and Health Center, Kettering Memorial Hospital, Miami Valley
Hospital and Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine.
