Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Graduates

Carrie Courtney-ShapiroCarrie Courtney-Shapiro
Chief Resident
Graduated in 2007

A native of New York City, Carrie escaped the hustle and bustle of the northeast by moving to Kentucky for undergraduate studies. With a desire to see more of the country, however, the blue grass couldn't hold her and she spent time living out west in both California and Oregon. The friendly Midwest atmosphere called her back for the intense studies of medical school, and she graduated from the University of Kentucky medical school. Any spare time(!) she finds is spent with family, friends, cooking and watching movies.

Carrie is in an Allergy/Immunology Fellowship at the University of Michigan.

He obtained a degree in biology from Swarthmore College, a quaint little Quaker school right outside of Philadelphia. Giving in to an overactive social conscience, he then taught high school science in inner city Newark and volunteered as a Paramedic. After a few years, he followed his fiancee (now wife), Melissa, to exciting Ohio, where she was completing her Ph.D. After graduating from Wright State School of Medicine, Harold decided to stay in Dayton because, "I LOVE WSU Med/Peds... besides, where else are the benefits so good that it only costs you $15 to a have a kid?" So far, Melissa has been party to $30 worth of children and continues to work part time as a child psychologist. Harold enjoys his time at home with Melissa and "the boys," and is an avid Monday Morning Quarterback for the New York Giants.
