Ambulatory Internal Medicine/Pediatrics

As a Fourth Year Student, you will be able to evaluate, treat and follow patients of all ages at the Wright State Physicians Medicine/Pediatrics Office at Elizabeth Place in Dayton. In addition, you will have the opportunity for inpatient consultation and newborn care.
Working closely with attending Med/Peds physicians and Med/Peds residents, students will be encouraged to participate in clinical projects within the Med/Peds Program. A "hands-on" approach to general internal medicine and general pediatrics will be emphasized.

Lead time required to drop/add - Two months.
At the end of the selective the student will have expanded knowledge and skills in obtaining histories, performing physicals, and generating differential diagnosis for new patients. Complete exam & comprehensive health assessments will be made for patients of all ages presenting with a broad variety of medical problems within general pediatrics and general internal medicine. The student will also develop an appreciation for the role of the dual certified Medicine-Pediatrics physician in providing comprehensive medical care, health care maintenance, evidence-based medical decision making, transitional care and consultative services.
