The Fels Participants

The Fels Longitudinal Study has nearly 5,000 names on file. About 1,000 of these are active in the study. That is, they come in at regular intervals for testing. Most of the active participants live in Ohio, Indiana or Kentucky, but we also have many participants who have moved across the country and even around the world. Their dedication to the Study still brings them in regularly.

The first participants were enrolled prenatally in 1929 and are now in their mid-sixties. Their children, grandchildren and now several great-grandchildren have been enrolled. Most participant families are Caucasian originally from the midwest area.
