LCME Institutional Self-Study
This fall the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine will
launch its self-study in preparation for the Liaison Committee on Medical
Education’s (LCME) re-accreditation process, culminating in a
site survey visit March 22-25, 2009.

The Boonshoft School of Medicine earned full accreditation
for eight years in 2001 and we have seen substantial growth and
change since then. We now need to carefully evaluate our progress
and accomplishments through a self-study, reaffirm our commitment
to the educational mission and respond to the changing needs of
our students and the communities we serve. Once the self-study is
completed, an executive summary and database containing the school’s
information will be submitted to the LCME, followed by a site survey
visit to the school.
The standards for accreditation, which are contained in the document Functions
and Structure of a Medical School, include many changes since
2001 and we need to ensure that we are in full compliance. More

This process is a critical one for all medical schools. It offers us
the opportunity to closely examine our programs and their impact; to
identify our strengths and weaknesses; and, along with our strategic
plan, chart a course to enhance our programs and institution. Expertise
and assistance from administrators, faculty, students and community
partners will be requested to assist in our comprehensive self-assessment.
An
LCME steering committee and six subcommittees have been formed to address
the tasks before us, and active participation in the process will be
welcomed
This web site is designed to provide faculty, students and staff information
during the process and also provides the LCME site team a way to review
large amounts of material during its preparation.
I would like to thank the many faculty, administrative staff and students
who will be working on this important effort in the next academic year.
