Running toward the Olympic Dream

Wright State medical student Joshua (Josh) Ordway recently ran his way to first place in the 30th annual Dayton River Corridor Classic Half Marathon, with a time of 1:07.11 for the 13.1 mile course.

Joshua OrdwayJosh is originally from Holgate, Ohio, and holds a B.A. from Princeton University, where he ran both track and cross-country competitively. He ran the 5,000 and 10,000 meters until his senior year when he switched to the 3,000-meter steeplechase, for which he earned All-East Honors. Early this year Josh qualified for the Olympic Trails by finishing the Freescale Austin Marathon in two hours, 15 minutes.

“I used the Dayton River Corridor race as a training race for the Chicago Marathon,” Josh says, where he placed 26th. He says he will begin training for the 2008 Olympic Marathon Trails the summer of '07, in the meantime he tries to get in 20 miles a day between medical school classes and studies.
