Program Director
Program Overview
The Infectious Disease Fellowship program is fully accredited and two years in duration. The primary emphasis is on training infectious disease experts in clinical infectious diseases. As part of the fellowship, trainees will study a wide variety of infectious diseases at the primary teaching institutions, including the Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Center, a 338-bed referral facility, and Miami Valley and Good Samaritan Hospitals, large community teaching hospitals affiliated with Wright State University. In addition, fellows rotate at the Children's Medical Center of Dayton to gain experience in pediatric infectious diseases.
An external rotation in transplant infectious diseases is required and will be arranged through collaboration with the Ohio State University or the University of Pittsburgh. Research is a critical part of the fellowship, and fellows will spend seven months in research projects. Fellows are expected to present and participate in the monthly city-wide Clinical Case Conferences and Journal Club.
