Crafting a vision for care of the elderly has been part of the Boonshoft School of Medicine’s mission for a long time. The school’s Department of Geriatrics was the result of a community collaboration, which included Premier Health Partners, the Dayton VA Medical Center, and the Oscar Boonshoft family. Now, the department is working collaboratively with the school’s other departments, affiliated hospitals, and many area agencies to bring the vision of comprehensive geriatric care to the forefront.

By the year 2030, the population of people over the age of 65 is estimated to reach approximately 72 million, nearly double what it is today. Our goal is to be able to provide excellent integrated medical care for them.
