Faculty Promotion Timeline

The provost's office sets the submission dates. The Office of Faculty and Clinical Affairs works within these deadlines to establish a time line for faculty to prepare their promotion files.

May 1, 2009 Deadline for candidate to initiate promotion process via a written request to the department chair, with a copy to the department Promotion and Tenure Committee, and to submit suggested names of external reviewers to the chair of the department Promotion and Tenure Committee.
June 1, 2009 Deadline for candidate to submit materials to be sent to the outside reviewers.
October 1, 2009 Deadline for candidate to submit to the department chair the complete promotion document and all materials described in Procedure 310.
November 12, 2009 (Thursday) Deadline for department committee and department chair to complete review of promotion and tenure document for all candidates, for the department Promotion and Tenure Committee's recommendation and the department chair's letter to be added to each candidates' file, and for the department chair to notify each candidate of these additions.
December 3, 2009 (Monday) Deadline for candidate to submit a rebuttal.
December 7, 2009 (Monday) Deadline for departments to send promotion documents to the Office of Faculty and Clinical Affairs.
February 5, 2010 (Friday) Deadline for school committee and Dean to complete review of all promotion files, for the school committee's recommendation and the Dean's letter to be added to each file, and for the Dean to notify each candidate of these additions.
February 22, 2010 (Monday) Deadline for candidate to submit a rebuttal.
February 26, 2010 (Friday) Deadline for Dean to submit promotion and tenure files and recommendations to the Provost.
March 9, 2010 (Tuesday) Meeting of the University Promotion and Tenure Committee.
March 12, 2010 (Friday) Deadline for the Provost to provide written notification to candidates of the decision and vote of the University Promotion and Tenure Committee.
March 19, 2010 (Friday) Deadline for candidate to notify the Provost and the AAUP-WSU (if bargaining unit faculty) of intent to file an appeal.
April 2, 2010 (Friday) Deadline for candidate to submit and appeal and supporting documentation.
June 11, 2010 (Friday) President presents candidates to Board of Trustees for approval.
