Guidelines for Jointly Sponsored CME Activities
Joint sponsorship CME is an activity
planned and presented in partnership with non-accredited providers.
Boonshoft School
of Medicine accreditation policies and procedures must be met when educational
activities are planned and presented in joint sponsorship with non-accredited
providers.
- The Boonshoft School
of Medicine requires written documentation that demonstrates how
each such jointly sponsored CME activity was planned and implemented
in compliance with policies and procedures. Material submitted can
be from files of either the accredited provider or the non-accredited
provider.
- All promotional
materials for jointly sponsored activities must state the following:
"This
activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the
Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for
Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship
of Wright State University and [Name of
Non-accredited provider]. Wright State University is accredited
by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians
and takes responsibility for the content, quality, and scientific
integrity of the CME activity. This educational activity is designated
for a maximum of [number of hours]
hours in category I credit toward the AMA Physician's Recognition
Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit
that he/she spent in the activity.
- If two or
more accredited providers are involved in an activity, then Boonshoft School
of Medicine must assume responsibility for the activity.
