Brochures
Well prepared brochures address the audience while meeting legal and ethical requirements.
Brochures announcing CME activities should:
- Identify objectives and intended audience.
- Provide disclosure information for all speakers and contributors.
- Clearly state the amount of CME credits offered — NOT that "credit
has been applied for."
- Receive the approval of the CME Executive Committee.
- Include the Disabilities Statement and one of the Accreditation Statements below.
Disabilities Statement
Include the following Disability Statement on all CME brochures:
"As an organization accredited for continuing medical education (CME), Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine fully complies with the legal requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act rules and regulations. If any participant is in need of accommodations, written requests should be submitted at least one month in advance."
Accreditation Statements
Include one of the following Accreditation Statements on all CME brochures:
- Directly sponsored activities — an activity planned and implemented
by Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine — should
use the following:
"Wright State University (WSU) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. This educational activity is awarded a maximum of [number of hours] category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should only claim credit for time that he/she spent in the activity."
- Jointly sponsored activities — an
activity planned and implemented by Boonshoft School of Medicine
working in partnership with an entity that is not accredited by the
Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education — should use
the following:
"This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of Wright State University and [Non-accredited provider]. This educational activity is awarded a maximum of [number of hours] category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should only claim credit for time that he/she spent in the activity."
Brochure Design
The brochure you develop should look like the images of the front and
the back of this sample brochure and be
ready at least six weeks before your CME activity. Download the Microsoft
Word templates below to develop your CME brochure. The template provides
fields where you can insert your specific information and incorporates
the appropriate institutional identity and required statements. Send
a completed copy to Karen Bertke, CME program administrator, to review
prior to distribution.
This particular template is for the most common brochure, the trifold. If your content will not fit into this size or if you have difficulty completing this template, contact the Boonshoft School of Medicine Office of Public Relations at (937) 775-2951 or som_pr@wright.edu for technical assistance.
