Recruitment of Classified/Unclassified Hourly Staff
How to Post a Classified or Unclassified Hourly Staff Position
- When
starting the search for a classified or unclassified hourly position, the
position vacancy must be submitted through the Online
Employment System.
- Go to that web site, click
on "Create User Account" (on the left side of the page), follow instructions on the application
page to complete information. Note: The password you choose will remain the same; no periodic change
will be required.
- An e-mail will be sent
to you within a day or so to confirm that your user id has been
activated.
- When you post a position,
the electronic form will be automatically routed to the various approval queues
once you submit.
- When Human Resources
posts the position on the WSU Employment Opportunities web site, an e-mail will
be sent to the originator of the position to acknowledge this. This e-mail also serves as approver notification to you to post advertisements in any publications or venues in which your department has stated that it will be responsible for posting.
- After
reviewing the forms and the advertisement, Human Resources will assign a
Position Number.
- Applications will
be accepted until the deadline.
- Applications
will be screened through the Online Employment System.
- The Online
Employment System will acknowledge all applications via e-mail.
- The department
will be notified via e-mail that a list of applicants is ready for interviews.
- After review of the interviewed applicants, the
department will inform Human Resources of its selection and to confirm title
and salary.
- The department
will call applicant to make an offer.
- Human
Resources will send the selected applicant a confirming offer letter.
- The Online
Employment System will generate deny letters to other applicants.
- The department will complete a Personnel Action Form (PAF)
and submit it to the Office of Fiscal Affairs. The form is available on the Human Resources Web site.
Candidate Response to an Offer
- If a candidate accepts a
position by signing the approved letter of offer, the department sends the
following to the Office of Fiscal Affairs:
- Original letter of
offer,
- Completed Status of Position Offered form,
- Resume, and
- Personnel Action Form (available on the Human Resources Web site)
- If a candidate verbally declines a position, the
department should inform Human Resources and the Office of Fiscal Affairs, and may
proceed with an offer to a second candidate. If no other offers will be made,
the department should inform Human Resources and the Office of Fiscal Affairs
of its plans, i.e., whether it plans to not fill the position, continue with the
search, etc.
