Department Celebrates 25 Years in 2005
"Emergency
Medicine Past, Present and Future"
The Wright State University Boonshoft
School of Medicine Department of Emergency Medicine celebrated the
25th anniversary of its first resident class and the founding of
the department in June 2005.
The department was the
fourth full academic Department of Emergency Medicine in the United
States when it was founded in 1980. More than 250 emergency medicine
physicians have graduated from the training program since that time.
The celebration included a celebration
of the establishment of the department's new Homeland Emergency
Learning and Preparedness (H.E.L.P.) Center to be based on the Dayton
VA Medical Center campus in conjunction with Boonshoft
School of Medicine. Nearly one-third of the graduates attended the
festivities.
