University
Mission:
To eliminate preventable blindness in the Dayton Area and educate our
communitities in eye helath and ocular diseases through proactive volunteer
initiatives.
Facts:
In the United States, 10 million people are blind or visually impaired.
Many do not have access to health care.
Not aware of free health programs.
Misconceptions about eye diseases.
80 percent of blindness in the U.S. is preventable.
1.25 million Ohioans are affected by vision problems that are still
treatable.
By 2030, 2.5 million Ohioans will be affected.
Our Role:
Perform preliminary vision exams and match patients with free programs:
Vision USA, Eveycare Americ, State Children's Health Insurance Program,
Sight for Students, Medicare for Senior Citizens, Medicid, V.A. Insurance
Empower our community with knowledge via: Schools, churches, shelters
Fundraising efforts for local and international
events
