Prevention through Alternative Learning Styles (PALS)
PALS is an award winning prevention education program dedicated to offering preventative resources for all middle school age youth, including those with alternative learning styles and/or disabilities.
The PALS Program develops and disseminates prevention curriculum materials and offers training opportunities for adults who work with youth in all types of settings. The PALS Program is unique because it incorporates many teaching styles, including active and hands-on learning activities, in its curriculum, which compliment the varied learning styles of the students. The multiple modality approach encourages student participation and improves learning.
Currently, the PALS Program is jointly supported by the Ohio Department
of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services (ODADAS) and the Ohio Department
of Education (ODE).
