June 16, 2009 - HealthLink Outreach Seminar, Madison Lakes Lodge, 8:00am-1:00pm
“When Disaster Strikes: Planning and Recovery” is the topic of the June HealthLink seminar. Health and social service providers will learn how to cope personally and professionally during a disaster, including helping clients cope with and recover from a disaster. To register, call 775-1114 by June 9th.

The Center for Healthy Communities’ annual meeting celebrates our community and academic partnerships. This year we consider our past and future in these changing social and economic times. Winners of the Center for Healthy Communities Health Promotion Program Award will also be announced.

June 27, 2009 - 8th African American Wellness Walk, Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Island Metro Park. This is a FREE non competitive walking event. Registration will open at 8:00a.m. On - Site registration only. The first 1,000 registered participants will receive FREE T-Shirts. Bring the kids out to enjoy the KIDZ KORNER!

The Center for Healthy Communities is a community-academic partnership committed to improving the health and well-being of the community and enhancing health professions education.

Our partners include: the Dayton Community; Boonshoft School of Medicine, School of Professional Psychology, Department of Social Work, College of Liberal Arts, and College of Nursing and Health at Wright State University; Sinclair Community College Life and Health Sciences Divisions; Dayton Public Schools; Montgomery County; Kettering Medical Center Network; Premier Health Partners; Public Health-Dayton Montgomery County; many community and regional health, human services and faith-based organizations, and local and state governments.

In addition to the direct and in-kind support provided by our academic partners, the Center is funded through the Area Health Education Centers (AHEC), Montgomery County Children Services Board, Ohio Department of Health, and the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
