Kinship Caregiver Coalition

In 1996 the Dayton community identified a need to provide better support for grandparents raising grandchildren and established the Grandparent/Grandchildren Initiative. Initial funding (1997-2001) from the US Department of Health and Human Services launched the initiative. With support from the Ohio Department of Aging the local initiative expanded its focus and was renamed the Kinship Caregiver Coalition, supported since 2003 through the Montgomery Department of Job and Family Services and the Center for Healthy Communities.
