In 2001, the Center for Healthy Communities was awarded a Community Access Program grant from the US Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources Services Administration to integrate health and human services for underserved members of the greater Dayton community. As part of this grant the HealthLink Outreach Task Force was established. Although the grant has ended, the Task Force has partnered with the Sinclair Community College Center for Nursing Continuing Education and AHEC Region IV to continue pursuing its purpose, which is to provide continuing education to health professionals in the greater Dayton region. The Outreach Task Force membership includes social workers, nurses, counselors and public health professionals who work together to develop an annual series of educational seminars that address current topics in health promotion and disease prevention, with special focus given to the underserved areas or populations in our community. HealthLink Seminars are held quarterly at Madison Lakes Lodge in Montgomery County. In addition to an educational presentation, each seminar features a table of local resources related to the topic under discussion. Click here for more information about HealthLink Seminars. If you would be interested in being a speaker for a HealthLink seminar, providing materials for a Resource Table, or would like more information about the Outreach Task Force, please contact Task Force Chair Kimberly Conner at 937-775-8254, kimberly.conner@wright.edu or Annemarie Halfpap at 937-775-8248, donna.halfpap@wright.edu |
