Research Interests
Chromosomal instability of short repetitive DNA sequences is responsible for more than 30 human diseases, including more than 20 human neurodegenerative and neuromuscular disorders. Research in my laboratory currently focuses on the DNA replication and DNA damage checkpoint-driven instability of microsatellites at the genomic loci responsible for myotonic dystrophy type1 (DM1) and spinocerebellar ataxia type10 (SCA10). Our goal is to elucidate the mechanisms of chromosomal instability of microsatellites using genetically engineered human cell models in vivo.
