Frequently Asked Questions About the Secondary Application


May I complete and submit the Secondary Application and submit my letters before you get my AMCAS application?
    Wait to complete the Secondary Application until we notify you. We will send you an e-mail when we receive your AMCAS application and provide instructions for completing the Secondary Application. Allow three weeks after AMCAS has notified you that your application has been verified and sent to your selected schools. However, you may send your letters of recommendation any time during the process until the deadline of January 15.
What is my User ID for the Secondary Application?
    Your eight-digit AMCAS ID number is your User ID.
Where do I get a password for the Secondary Application program?
    You choose your own password. It must be at least six characters long and may contain numbers and both upper- and lowercase letters, but no spaces. The password is case sensitive.
What if my e-mail address will not fit in the space provided?
    Enter as much as you can. There is space inside the Secondary Application for your complete e-mail address.

I graduated from a high school in Canada. The postal code will not fit in the required field. How do I enter the postal code?
    Please use a ZIP code from where you are currently living.
What do you mean by "hours worked during last undergraduate year"?
    We want to know how many hours per week you worked during your last undergraduate year. Exclude hours worked during summers and graduate course work.
I had two employers. There is room to list only one in the Secondary Application. How do I list them?
    List the one for whom you worked the most hours.
There is only room on the secondary app to list three letters of recommendation. How do I list the two additional letters?
    You do not list the additional letters. They will be processed and listed as "Other" on the status check page.

How will I know if my letters arrived?
    Please allow at least three weeks for your letters, once received, to be posted onto the status check page. After that time frame, you may call on Mondays from 1 to 4 p.m. or on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon for a status check at (937) 775-2936.
How do I enter AP credit on the course section?
    List as shown on your transcript. We can accept only courses you received credit for on the transcript.
The application will not accept decimals. How do I enter the 3.6 credits I got for my class?
    Please round up to whole numbers.
How should I list Academic Year and Term?
    It should be listed to correspond with when you actually took the class. For example, spring term in the year 2004 will be the "2004 Academic Year" with "Spring" being the Academic Term.

What if my major only required one math or English course?
    We require one year each of biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, and physics, all with labs, as well as one year each of math and English. You need to enter course(s) you plan to take that would fulfill those basic requirements.
What is a planned course?
    It is a required course that you have not yet completed but plan to take before matriculation to our school.
Do I need to list every single undergraduate course that I have taken?
    No. We only need to know about the required courses listed above.
Do you waive any of the requirements?
    You may ask for a waiver for a course. These are granted on an individual basis. You will need to request a waiver in writing at the time of your interview.

I checked "No" for Ohio residency petition, but when I review the application it shows up. Am I supposed to complete this?
    If you are not claiming Ohio residency, ignore the Ohio Residency Petition.
I have been granted an AMCAS fee waiver. Will you waive the Secondary Application fee?
    Yes, we honor AMCAS fee waivers. If your AMCAS fee waiver status is not stated on the payment portion of the Secondary Application, please call or e-mail the office of Admissions and we will correct it.
How will I know if my application is complete?
    When we have received your AMCAS application, completed Secondary Application, and the required letters of recommendation, your application is complete. Your file will remain in active review status until the end of the process in March. No letters of final decision are sent until that time.
