Further Information

Ms. Johnson works closely with the BSOM offices of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs and Admissions toward implementing and providing a diagnostic and prescriptive approach to improve learning skills and academic outcomes among BSOM students. Her goals are to:

• Provide individual academic counseling, as needed or requested for study, learning and/or testing skills, requesting peer tutoring within BSOM
• Provide support and referrals for previously undiagnosed learning difficulties and, referral to a professional if a difficulty is identified
• Provide support and referrals to meet any need that is an obstacle to optimal academic performance
• Identify strategies to enhance study effectiveness
• Assist in developing an individually planned approach to optimizing preparation for performance on the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 examinations
• Assist Offices of Academic and Student Affairs staff and faculty with monitoring academic progress of all students to meet the individual student's and the institution’s overall educational objectives.

Ms. Johnson also works with the prematriculation program. Her involvement includes meeting with newly admitted non-traditional students both at orientation and individually, and to assist the students and their immediate families to better understand and make the needed transitions and meet the rigorous demands of medical school.
